Update June 2020 - #community-jobs is now also open for Uplink members, who started their own startup and are looking for co-founders or a CTO in exchange for shares!

Every now and then, a freelancer from our community approaches us to ask how and where they can share their own job posts. Sometimes it's for a personal project they are pursuing, but for which they don't have the necessary time or skills, but most of the time they are working on a client project and the workload is just too much, so they'd like to find someone to share it with.

What better way to start the roaring 20s than to meet some fellow freelancers for a nice evening of cold drinks and inspiring conversations?

On January 10, we did just that and met at the wonderful Bräugier Brewpub in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg!

Update July 2020 - Our cooperation with Modis has now ended and will not be renewed as of right now.

tl;dr - Starting today, we'll run a 6-month trial cooperation with Modis , a recruitment company and solutions provider for IT and engineering companies. We will post selected freelance jobs from Modis in our community to help them find matching candidates more quickly.

Update July 2020 - the Welance coworking space does not exist anymore unfortunately!

In times where working remotely is becoming more and more normal among freelancers as well as regular employees, the challenge for everyone who cannot (or does not want to) work from home or a nearby café is to find a suitable coworking space. Recommendations for good coworking spaces are requested regularly in our community, so we decided to try to find a space that we can recommend to our members in Berlin.

We're happy to report that we found one in Welance!

Some of the most common questions we have seen over the years in our Slack workspace had to do with recruiter contracts and how hard it is for a freelancer to know whether they are fair or not.

A typical recruiter contract has 12-15 pages (often separated into a framework contract and a project agreement) and is not easy to understand by someone who doesn't see these kinds of documents every day.
